About Us

A Second Chance That Changes Everything

Siminawe Matric Upgrade is a dedicated educational support institution based in eThekwini Municipality, Durban, committed to transforming the life trajectories of disadvantaged youth — with a particular focus on young women — across KwaZulu-Natal.

We serve learners who have been unable to complete or improve their National Senior Certificate, or who require structured guidance to access higher education and meaningful employment. Founded in 2022, we have grown from a single-room tutoring centre into a multi-programme institution delivering holistic learner development.

Five Integrated Programmes

We address the full spectrum of barriers to educational achievement through a holistic learner development ecosystem.

Programme 01

Matric Upgrade

Our cornerstone service — structured second-chance tuition for learners who want to improve NSC results, add subjects, or meet specific faculty requirements for university or employment. CAPS-aligned with mock exams and personalised learning plans.

Programme 02

Maths & Physics Outreach

Qualified educators deployed to partner high schools across eThekwini, providing supplementary Mathematics and Physical Sciences classes to Grade 10–12 learners. Targeting 10 schools in Year 1, expanding to 20+ schools by Year 3.

Programme 03

Career Guidance Workshops

We teach the unwritten rules of applying to universities and TVET colleges — APS scores, personal statements, NSFAS applications, bursary navigation, and what selectors actually look for. Delivered four times annually to all enrolled learners.

Programme 04

In-House Counselling

Professional psychosocial support embedded directly within our learning environment. A qualified counsellor provides individual and group sessions, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation — removing barriers of cost, distance, and stigma.

Programme 05

Computer Literacy & Coding

Two-semester digital skills programme via an accredited provider. Semester 1 covers Computer Literacy (MS Office, digital citizenship, CV creation). Semester 2 covers Coding (Python basics, Scratch, mini-project). Nationally recognised certificates issued.

Programme 02

Maths & Physics Outreach Programme

Our outreach team visits partner high schools across eThekwini Municipality and surrounding KZN communities, delivering supplementary Mathematics and Physical Sciences classes directly to Grade 10, 11, and 12 learners who lack access to quality STEM instruction.

Starting with 10 partner schools in Year 1 and scaling to 20+ by Year 3, we target a measurable 15% improvement in pass rates at every school we serve.

Yes. Siminawe Matric Upgrade is a registered institution with registration number K2025/956682/08. We operate in accordance with Department of Basic Education guidelines for NSC rewrite and upgrading programmes.

Absolutely. You can choose to upgrade one subject or up to six subjects depending on your goals. Our fee structure accommodates 1, 2, or 3 subjects per package. Contact us for customised arrangements.

The main programme runs from the intake date through to the official NSC October/November examinations. We also offer targeted sessions aligned to the May/June second-chance exam window.
